Spyderco - Rescue 93mm Black- Nylon Resin/ Spyder Edge
Since its original introduction in 1990 our C14 Rescue has performed well for serving and saving professionals. For 2003 we've changed a few things. The 3.5" stainless blade is VG10 steel and fully serrated. On the blue handled model there is an inch of PlainEdge blade at the tip. We removed a crescent shaped portion of the spine that acts as a positioning spot for index finger control over the blades tip. Behind the enlarged found hole we added texturing for thumb purchase and a comfortable finger choil, making ths one ergonomic knife. The Rescue also now features the David Boye dent for added security. The FRN handle has a volcano grip that comes in indigo blue, black or safety orange. The tip up pocket clip is ambidextrous. A myth in the knife world is that out there somewhere there is a super-steel with high performance cutting ability that doesn't rust. A steel foundry in Japan made the myth a reality by intoducing H-1 steel. H1 steel is a PH steel meaning it is a precipitation-hardened steel. It's naturally hard without heat-treating and with 1% nitrogen instead of carbon it cannot rust. H1 holds a sharpened cutting edge equivalent to many premium carbon steels but without developing rust or pitting. The Salt 1 is shaped like a Delica model with a few modifications. The blade has a rounded tip and its steel components are treated to be impervious to rust and pitting. Even with gloved or wet hands the enlarged (14mm) opening hole is accessible. Textured in a checkerboard pattern, the black FRN handle grips onto your palm. A metal pocket clip attaches for right and left-handers tip up. When using the model around water, attach a thong through the lanyard hole as a method of backup attachment.
